Rock Iguana (Cyclura carinata) is the biggest endemic ground animal in Turks & Caicos and plays an important role in the local environment since it help keep native-plant communities and foster seed germination. It’s a shy and harmless reptile that dwells all over the Turks & Caicos archipelago, mostly on the inhabited keys. There are more than 50,000 rock iguanas on the islands that feed on leaves, fruits and insects.
