The evolutionary process of Venezuela’s contemporary culture derives from pre-Hispanic, Spanish and African roots, consolidated in the colonial centuries. Its cultural specificity has been achieved through an intense acculturation process and miscegenation, with major contributions in music, pictorial arts and sense of the magic from ancient African cultures. It was also enriched by other cultural currents of Antillean and European –especially French—origin in the 19th century.
