It is located on the side of the Gran Piedra mountain, 1227 meters above sea level; and only 17 miles (28 km) away from the city of Santiago de Cuba. This warm and friendly mountain hotel owes its name to a gigantic rock wighing approximately 70,000 tons and which is registered in the Guinnes Book of World Records as the third largest solid rock worldwide. The hotel is surrounded by the ruins of ancient coffee-growing estates that have been declared a World Cultural Heritage site by UNESCO.
