This Mexican State located in the Eastern part of the Yucatan Peninsula, limits to the North with the State of Yucatan and the Golf of Mexico, to the East with the Antilles Sea to the West with Yucatan and Campeche, to the South with Guatemala and Belize. Its production is basically agricultural where corn, yucca, fruit trees and sisal hemp, as well as the fishing of shellfish and grouper are outstanding.Tourism has become the basis of the State economic because it has developed as the most important tourist complex in the country because of its beautiful beaches and archaeological ruins. Other locations also have tourist importance among these there are Cozumel, Isla Mujeres, and the archaeological ruins of Tulum.This situation has generated the fast growth of the population because of the people’s migration attracted by the tourist resorts.The population is distributed in 7 municipalities and 1,303 neighborhoods, being Chetumal, the Capital of the State the most popular.
