Santa Ana

Santa Ana, the nation’s second-largest city, was founded by Bishop Villalpando in 1708 and still shines with the splendor of the colonial times. Located in the western region of the country and divided in 13 municipalities, it embraces 2,023.17 square kilometers with a population of 510,565 inhabitants.
Founded during Colonel Jose Maria San Martin’s government by presidential decree on February 8, 1855, it was originally known as Sihuatehuacan, meaning in indigenous language city of the sorcerers.
This is a traditional burg that vies with the nation’s capital as one of the country’s most thriving cities. Located in the country’s main coffee-producing area hedged with coffee-making farms and properties, tourist centers, churches and major archeological ruins. An first-class tourist and cultural stronghold lies in this particular city.
