Managua is a city surrounded by volcanic lagoons, that is why its name means "where there is a water extension". To the north is located the Lake of Managua, the Tiscapa Lagoon in downtown, and surrounding the urban area visitors may find the lagoons of Asososca, Xiloá, Nejapa and Apoyeque.
