Santo Domingo, 1881 She had the opportunity of going into the arts by the hand of maestro Abelardo Rodriguez Urdaneta. She attended the Arts Academy in Santiago de Cuba and the Art Students League in New York. Her works have been exposed in Mexico, the United States, Cuba and Santo Domingo. For quite some time, she ran her own drawing and painting academy where many renowned local artists got trained in the fine arts. She taught at the National School of Fine Arts.She's considered one of the most important artistic personalities of the Dominican Republic. Her two most distinctive artistic features are her design and expression.Doña Celeste Woss and Gil boasted tackiness and strength in her paintings. Human innerness of many of her characters she splayed on canvass does contrast with the environment and even her own temper. In general terms, she continues to be one of today's most outstanding and criticized artists.
