Aerolineas Argentinas Gets First Boeing 737-8 MAX 8

On November 22, 2017, Aerolineas Argentinas took delivery of its first Boeing 737-8 MAX 8, the pictured LV-GVD.

LV-GVD arrived at the Buenos Aires base the following day via a refueling stop at Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.

The new type is expected to enter revenue service on December 1, 2017. The company is expected to have 20 copies by 2020.

Cheapflightsfinder.com Looks into Delta’s Low Airfare Glitch

A computer error caused Delta Air Lines to offer super-low fares a few years ago that were up to 90% below regular prices, including a $35 one-way ticket from Raleigh, N.C., to Philadelphia.

The Atlanta-based carrier caught the mistake within a few hours but not before the cheap flights were booked by some lucky travelers.

A travel website announced this week that it is adding a service that can look for and display errors that lead to extremely low fares.

Nikki to Open Beach Club in Barbados

Nikki Beach plans to open a beach club this winter in Port Ferdinand north of Speightstown on the west coast of Barbados.

The beach club, set on 1.4 acres of beachfront property and elevated to ensure spectacular views, will feature an all-white design scheme, highlighted by wood accents and stone elements.

The club will have a restaurant, pool and oceanfront seating for up to 200 guests. In case of inclement weather, the dining space is covered with a waterproof awning. Showers and changing rooms are on property. There will be no admission charge.

French Caribbean Islands Open for Business

Following the Caribbean's severe hurricane season, the Martinique Tourism Authority and the Tourism Board of the Islands of Guadeloupe reported that both destinations emerged totally unscathed from the powerful storms Harvey and Irma.

Both French Caribbean islands were able to welcome visitors right after the storms with all businesses up-and-running, including hotels, B&Bs and villas as well as restaurants and tourist sites.

Interjet to Step Up Promotion for Canada-Mexico Flights

Interjet’s Toronto and Montreal flights to Mexico City and Cancun just started this summer (and its Vancouver flights began only a few weeks ago), and already the airline is seeing load factors of close to 70%.

Interjet Director, Javier Porragas Torres, says “we’re doing good” but there’s still work to be done to promote the airline, and part of the push will come from Interjet’s sales team now heading out to travel agencies in the airline’s key Canadian markets.

The agency’s ten-member board is to be chaired by University of the West Indies lecturer, Sherma Roberts.

At the same time, Louis Lewis has been announced as the organization’s first chief executive officer.

Primera Air to Start New Spain-UK Routes

After announcing direct flights to New York, Boston and Toronto from Birmingham and London Stansted, Primera Air is adding three more leisure destinations – Mallorca, Alicante and Malaga.

Primera Air has already established a strong and well-known leisure carrier image in Scandinavia and now the low-cost airline is bringing its core product to the UK.

Flights to Mallorca, Alicante and Malaga will be operated daily, using Boeing 737-800 starting from April and May next year.

SLS Baha Mar Opens

The SLS Baha Mar opened on Friday. It is the second of three hotels to open in the $4.2 billion Baha Mar resort in Nassau, Bahamas.

The 299-room hotel is the fifth under the SBE lifestyle brand after the brand's two Miami properties and its hotels in Beverly Hills and Las Vegas.

Baha Mar already includes SBE food and beverage outlets Cleo, Katsuya and Monkey Bar. SBE's Bond nightclub and Skybar lounge will open next month and early next year, respectively.

Barcelo Pops the Question to NH Hotel Group

Spanish hotel group Barcelo has expressed interest in merging with rival NH Hotel Group, according to Reuters.

Barcelo is seeking to acquire a 60 percent stake and a majority of the board seats in the combined company, which would become Spain's largest hotel operator with more than 600 hotels across Europe, South America and the Caribbean.

The non-binding offer values NH Hotel Group at approximately $3 billion.
