Travelport, Hertz Ink Global Partnership

Travelport has announced a new agreement with Hertz Corporation that gives Travelport’s online, offline, and corporate customers access to the car rental company’s full worldwide inventory of rental vehicle rates.

The deal includes Hertz’s popular prepaid rates found on Hertz.com and the Hertz mobile app.

Travelport-connected agencies currently manage over 94 million car rental days annually sourced from a variety of global suppliers.

Delta Unveils New Convenience on Major Routes

Delta Air Lines has begun selling its new Delta Comfort+ product on flights departing January 22nd and beyond in most trans-Atlantic markets.

The new product is available on routes including those between North America and Europe, and between North America and Senegal, Ghana, Nigeria, South Africa, and Israel. Delta Comfort+ was introduced in March 2015 as an upgrade from Main Cabin.

New Version of the Investment Opportunity Portfolio Unveiled

The latest update of the Cuban Investment Opportunity Portfolio was presented Tuesday at the Havana International Fair (FIHAV 2017) by Rodrigo Malmierca, minister of Foreign Trade and Investment, at the Executive Hall of the EXPOCUBA Fairgrounds’ Main Pavilion.

The high-ranking Cuban official spelled out details about the latest version of the portfolio, giving a case-by-case account of the investment projects that have been approved and those whose passage is still pending.

Tropical Depression Brings Heavy Rains across Central Cuba

At 200 PM EDT, the center of Tropical Depression Eighteen was located by weather radars from Cuba and Grand Cayman near latitude 21.8 North, longitude 82.4 West. The depression is moving toward the north-northeast near 25 mph (41 km/h) and this motion is expected to continue today.

A motion toward the northeast with an increase in forward speed is expected to begin tonight and continue through Sunday.

Sandals to Build Resort in Tobago

Sandals Resorts International has signed a memorandum of understanding to build Sandals and Beaches resorts on Tobago, said chairman Butch Stewart.

It would be the company's first resorts on the island, one half of the twin-island republic of Trinidad and Tobago in the southern Caribbean. Stewart describes the resort site as "magnificent."

DCL Set for Caribbean Return

Disney Cruise Line announced its plans to increase its presence in America’s Finest City for early 2019. The brand is also recommitting to the Caribbean with other domestic departures.

The Disney Wonder will return to the Californian city for a two-month season scheduled from March to May of 2019. A variety of itineraries will include two-, four-, five- and seven-night sailings to Mexico with most calling on Ensenada.

Hilton’s Quarterly Earnings Rise

Hilton Worldwide has reported diluted earnings per share for the third quarter of $0.55 and diluted EPS, adjusted for special items, of $0.56.

The figures are an increase of 37 per cent from the third quarter of 2016 on a pro forma basis.

Net income for the third quarter was $181 million, while adjusted EBITDA for the period was $524 million, an increase of 11 per cent from pro forma Adjusted EBITDA for the third quarter of 2016.

IAG Reports Uptick in Quarterly Profits

International Consolidated Airlines Group has reported a third quarter operating profit of €1,455 million before exceptional items. The figure is up from the €1,205 million reported last year.

Willie Walsh, IAG chief executive, said: “We’re reporting another strong quarter with an operating profit up 20.7 percent to €1,455 million before exceptional items.

St. Lucia to Let Emiratis Enter the Country without Visas

The UAE nationals can make visa-free visits to the eastern Caribbean country of St. Lucia starting this week, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation has announced.

Ahmed Elham Al Dhaheri, Assistant Under-Secretary for Consular Affairs at the ministry said that the decision has come into effect following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the UAE and Saint Lucia in September, on the sidelines of the 72nd session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

Boa Constrictor Found in North Carolina Hotel

According to ABC News, a housekeeper at an Asheville, North Carolina hotel was stunned to find a 5-foot-long boa constrictor under the covers inside an empty hotel room Monday.

Police responded to the bizarre situation at the Rodeway Inn and Suites and had the snake transported to Buncombe County Animal Shelter until its owner could be located.

The snake's owner, Neil Miller told WLOS-TV he was "terrified" when he realized he had left the 3-year-old Colombian red tail boa behind while visiting a friend.

Jewel Grande Montego Bay Opens

The all-inclusive Jewel Grande Montego Bay Resort & Spa has opened in the Rose Hall section of Montego Bay on the site of the former Palmyra Resort & Spa. The resort is across from the Montego Bay Convention Center.

The Palmyra opened in December 2010 and was placed in receivership by lenders in August 2011. It was acquired by Jamaica's Sagicor Investments Ltd. in 2016.
