Carnival Cruise Line said its ship operating out of San Juan, the Carnival Fascination, will be chartered to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), wiping out four months of cruises.
The move came at FEMA's request, Carnival said. The cruise line had been set to resume its normal seven-day cruise schedule from San Juan on the Carnival Fascination on Oct. 15.
Instead, Carnival said departures from Oct. 15 through Jan. 28 have been canceled. The Fascination will resume regular year-round cruising from San Juan on Feb. 18.
Aeromexico and Japan Airlines have agreed to launch a codeshare partnership in Japan’s fiscal year 2018, that combines the synergies of both airlines. It is hoped the alliance will provide a wider connectivity between Mexico and Japan.
The codeshare is subject to necessary approvals from authorities and will help to pursue significant cooperation in the near future, allowing the carriers to leverage each other’s network, expertise and assets in benefit of their consumers.
Although the U.S. Department of State recently issued a travel warning on Cuba, a number of cruise lines plan to add itineraries to Cuba next year.
The Sept. 29 statement, which “warns U.S. citizens not to travel to Cuba,” is based on a series of mysterious illnesses that have befallen U.S. Embassy workers in Havana.
But several cruise lines operating ships in and around Cuba have released statements pushing back on the warning, noting that no tourists have been harmed in these incidents.

JetBlue, which operates approximately 20% of its flights in and out of the Caribbean on a typical day, expects to reduce capacity fleetwide by approximately 2.9% below earlier plans because of hurricanes Irma and Maria.
The hurricanes will cost JetBlue $114-$134 million in 2017, the carrier said in an operational update Wednesday.
Among the hard-hit Caribbean destinations that JetBlue serves are St. Croix, St. Thomas and St. Maarten. JetBlue also has the largest operation of any airline in San Juan and serves the Puerto Rican cities of Ponce and Aguadilla.
